Tampa General Hospital – Power Systems Analysis

One of the premier hospitals in the region, Tampa General’s main campus occupies nearly 2 million square feet.  The electrical distribution system includes multiple 15kV campus loops, paralleled 15kVA generation, a 4160V chilled water plant, and several large UPS distribution systems.  Emerald provided an arc flash analysis, short-circuit analysis, and protective device coordination study for the entire campus.  Additionally, we worked closely with Tampa Electric to provide optimal selectivity of all 15kV distribution equipment, regardless of upstream utility switching.  Where possible, Emerald also resolved existing selectivity issues and provided optimal settings to mitigate arc flash hazard, resulting in a safer and more reliable distribution system for the campus.  All analyses were performed using SKM PowerTools software.
