Tampa General Hospital – Power Systems Analysis
Tampa General Hospital, one of the premier healthcare facilities in the region, spans nearly 2 million square feet at its main campus. The electrical distribution system includes multiple 15kV campus loops, paralleled 15kVA generation, a 4160V chilled water plant, and several large UPS distribution systems. Emerald conducted a comprehensive arc flash analysis, short-circuit analysis, and protective device coordination study for the entire campus.
Working closely with Tampa Electric, we ensured optimal selectivity of all 15kV distribution equipment, regardless of upstream utility switching. Emerald also addressed existing selectivity issues and fine-tuned settings to reduce arc flash hazards, enhancing both the safety and reliability of the distribution system. All analyses were performed using SKM PowerTools software to ensure precision and effectiveness.
